About One Less Car

We are your neighbors and friends who want to improve the quality of life for us all by helping to reclaim our basic right to freedom of mobility. We are committed to reversing the harm done to our collective well being, the unraveling of our neighborhoods and communities, and the increased risks we face daily due to our society's focus on the automobile at the exclusion of other modes.

We advocate for providing safe and effective cycling and walking for all citizens through education, lobbying, and facilitation between our communities, governments, and state and local representatives.

One Less Car's Recent Accomplishments

  • Improved Maryland law on sharing the road -
Passed bill to allow bicyclists to take lanes on roadways without marked bike paths.
  • Represented bicyclists on Capital Hill -
Cyclists from across the state met with our Congressional delegation as part of the National Bike Summit.  We’re helping to ensure the recently passed federal transportation bill will make Maryland better for walking and biking.
  • Pressed hard for a Trail to run the Full Length of the ICC -
While the general assembly didn’t write the full trail into law, our message -- build it right, or not at all -- was heard loud and clear in Annapolis.  In every ICC discussion, people were talking about bicycles!
  • JOIN US! -
